LIGHT

Philodendron Strawberry Shake Variegated prefers bright, indirect light to support its pink, cream, and green variegation. After shipping, start it in medium-bright light and gradually increase brightness over 1–2 weeks. Direct sun can scorch lighter areas, while low light may cause new growth to emerge mostly green with reduced color.

WATERING

Water when the top 2 inches of soil are dry. After shipping, allow slightly longer dry periods while the roots settle. Strawberry Shake is sensitive to excess moisture during acclimation, and overwatering can quickly lead to yellowing or leaf drop. Always allow excess water to drain completely.

HUMIDITY

This plant does best in moderate to high humidity (60–75%). Stable humidity helps new leaves unfurl evenly and supports recovery after transit. Dry air can cause new leaves to harden unevenly or reduce pink coloration, especially during the first few weeks after shipping.

TEMPERATURE

Ideal temperatures range from 68–85°F. Philodendron Strawberry Shake prefers consistent warmth. After shipping, avoid cold drafts, air conditioning vents, or exterior doors, as temperature fluctuations can slow acclimation and stress new growth.

SOIL & POTTING

Use a chunky, well-draining aroid mix with orchid bark, perlite, and coco coir to promote airflow around the roots. A pot with drainage holes is essential. Do not repot immediately after arrival—wait at least 2–3 weeks to allow the plant to acclimate before disturbing the root system.

GROWTH & ACCLIMATION

It’s normal for Strawberry Shake to pause growth after shipping. New leaves may emerge smaller or with less pink at first and improve as the plant stabilizes. Avoid frequent movement or repotting during the acclimation period. Color and variegation can vary naturally from leaf to leaf.

COMMON ISSUES & TIPS

  • Low pink coloration → light may be too low
  • Yellowing leaves → excess moisture or poor drainage
  • Drooping leaves → temperature stress or recent shipping
  • Misshapen new leaves → low humidity during unfurling

Philodendron Strawberry Shake Variegated benefits from patience after shipping. With consistent care and a stable environment, color and growth will continue to improve as it settles.
