LIGHT

Bright indirect light is essential due to low chlorophyll content in white sectors. Direct sun scorches white tissue quickly, while low light reduces growth and leaf size. East or west windows are ideal, with south windows usable at a distance. Grow lights help maintain stability in winter.

WATERING

Allow the top inch of soil to dry before watering. Overwatering is a major risk due to slower energy production in highly variegated leaves. Underwatering causes mild droop that corrects quickly. After shipping, water slightly less until new growth resumes.

HUMIDITY

Prefers 60–80% humidity for clean leaf development. Dry air browns white edges and increases tearing. Avoid vents or heaters that create rapid leaf dehydration. Grouped plants or humidifiers stabilize leaf condition.

TEMPERATURE

Ideal temperature range is 65–82°F. Below 55°F slows growth dramatically and may brown new leaves. Avoid drafty windows or entryways in winter. Allow 24–48 hours post-shipping before adjusting care.

SOIL & POTTING

Use a chunky, well-draining substrate with bark, perlite, and coco coir/peat. Avoid heavy moisture-control soils that suffocate roots. Repot when rootbound. Poles or trellises help produce larger leaves.

GROWTH & ACCLIMATION

Slower than green Monstera forms due to reduced photosynthetic surface. Acclimation after shipping takes 1–3 weeks with lower water intake. Begin fertilizing once new leaves appear.

COMMON ISSUES & TIPS

White crisping → dry air or sunburn

Yellowing → overwatering

Leggy growth → insufficient light

Soft leaves → shipping stress
