LIGHT
Monstera Deliciosa prefers bright, indirect light, but after shipping it’s best to start in medium light and increase brightness gradually. Gentle light helps reduce stress and prevents leaf droop. Direct sun can scorch leaves, while low light may slow recovery and delay fenestration on new growth.
WATERING
Water when the top 2–3 inches of soil are dry. After shipping, allow the soil to dry a bit more than usual while the roots settle. Monstera Deliciosa is forgiving, but consistently wet soil during acclimation can lead to yellowing leaves. Always allow excess water to drain fully.
HUMIDITY
This plant does well in moderate humidity (50–70%). While it tolerates normal household conditions, slightly higher humidity supports smoother leaf unfurling after shipping. Stable humidity helps prevent curled edges and supports faster recovery.
TEMPERATURE
Ideal temperatures range from 68–85°F. Monstera Deliciosa prefers warmth and does not respond well to cold drafts. After shipping, keep it away from air conditioning vents, heaters, and cold windows to avoid temporary drooping or slowed growth.
SOIL & POTTING
Use a chunky, well-draining aroid mix with orchid bark, perlite, and coco coir to promote airflow around the roots. A pot with drainage holes is essential. Do not repot immediately after arrival—wait at least 2–3 weeks so the plant can acclimate before disturbing the root system.
GROWTH & ACCLIMATION
It’s normal for Monstera Deliciosa to pause growth after shipping. Leaves may arrive slightly droopy and will firm up as the plant adjusts. New leaves may emerge without fenestrations at first and develop more splits as the plant settles and matures. Avoid frequent movement during acclimation.
COMMON ISSUES & TIPS
- Drooping leaves → common after shipping or temperature changes
- Yellowing lower leaves → excess moisture
- Lack of fenestrations → light may be too low
- Brown edges → inconsistent watering or very dry air
Monstera Deliciosa is resilient and forgiving. With consistent care and patience after shipping, it will acclimate well and resume strong, healthy growth.
