LIGHT

Prefers bright, indirect light with good ambient brightness. Variegated areas are more prone to burn, so avoid harsh midday sun directly on the leaves. A few feet back from an east or west window works well. If using grow lights, keep them 12–18 inches above the canopy and avoid running them 24/7. Adequate light supports stronger variegation and tighter internodes.

WATERING

Water when the top 1–2 inches of the potting mix feels dry. This species likes moisture but dislikes sitting in consistently wet soil. After shipping, expect the plant to drink less for a short period while it acclimates. Reduce watering temporarily if leaves are droopy from transit—this is often shipping fatigue, not underwatering. Increase again as growth resumes.

HUMIDITY

Thrives in 55–70% humidity, but can tolerate typical indoor levels once acclimated. Higher humidity supports better leaf size and reduces hardened edges on variegated sections. If your space is dry (winter or heavy AC), consider a humidifier or placing the plant among other plants to raise local humidity. Avoid fully enclosed setups long-term, as stagnant air can increase fungal risk.

TEMPERATURE

Optimal temperature range is 65–80°F. Short exposure to cooler temps during shipping is common, but prolonged cold drafts or direct AC vents can stress new leaves and variegated sections. Avoid temperatures below 55°F, especially for young plants or fresh imports.

SOIL & POTTING

Use a well-aerated aroid mix that balances moisture and airflow. We recommend a chunky blend including peat or coco coir, orchid bark, perlite, and some compost or worm castings for nutrients. A pole or support is helpful as it matures—this is a naturally climbing hybrid. Repot only when necessary, and avoid repotting immediately after shipping to reduce transplant shock.

GROWTH & ACCLIMATION

Florida Beauty is a moderate grower that puts out larger leaves as it climbs. Variegation patterns vary naturally—some leaves have more cream than others, which is normal for this cultivar. After shipping, expect 7–21 days of adjustment. Leaves may soften slightly during transit; this usually resolves on its own once the plant rehydrates and settles into its new environment. Do not fertilize immediately after arrival—resume once new growth appears.

COMMON ISSUES & TIPS

  • Yellowing variegation → Too much direct sun or nutrient imbalance—adjust placement before changing soil.
  • Large crispy variegated patches → Normal for highly variegated areas; maintain humidity and avoid afternoon sun.
  • Slow growth indoors → Provide support, brighter indirect light, and allow time to acclimate.
  • After shipping → Do not prune, repot, or wash roots right away—let the plant stabilize first.

Overall, Florida Beauty Variegated rewards stable care, climbing support, and consistent bright light with strong variegation and elegant leaf structure.
