LIGHT

Bright indirect light is required to preserve mint variegation and promote fenestration. Direct sunlight burns pale sectors, especially during midday hours. A few feet back from a south or west window works well, or directly near an east window. Low light causes diminished mint patterning and elongated internodes. Grow lights may be used 12–18 inches above the plant for stable growth.

WATERING

Water when the top 1–2 inches of soil are dry, allowing slight dry-back while avoiding complete dry-out. After shipping, the plant may drink less temporarily—reduce watering frequency until new growth resumes. Overwatering causes yellow lower leaves and potential root rot, while underwatering causes mild wilt that resolves after hydration. Always drain excess water to prevent anaerobic conditions around the roots.

HUMIDITY

Prefers moderate to high humidity (60–75%) for clean leaf development and fenestration. Can tolerate normal household humidity but pale variegation may crisp in very dry air. Avoid placing directly under HVAC vents or heaters that reduce local humidity. Grouped plants or a small humidifier work well without requiring bins or domes.

TEMPERATURE

Ideal range is 65–85°F. Temperatures below 55°F slow metabolism and risk cold damage on new leaves. Avoid drafty windows, entryways, or AC blasts. Transit-related cold exposure may soften leaves temporarily but they typically recover.

SOIL & POTTING

Use a chunky, well-aerated aroid mix containing bark, perlite, and coco coir/peat. Avoid dense soil that holds water against roots for long periods. Repot once roots fill the container or if soil dries too quickly. Support poles help produce larger, fenestrated leaves as the plant climbs.

GROWTH & ACCLIMATION

Moderate climber with increasing leaf size as it matures upward. Mint variegation varies naturally across leaves. Expect 1–3 weeks of acclimation after shipping with slower water uptake and slightly softer leaves. Resume fertilizing once new growth is visible.

COMMON ISSUES & TIPS

Mint fading → insufficient light

Brown crispy variegation → dry air or sunburn

Soft leaves → shipping fatigue

Leggy growth → lack of support or poor light
