LIGHT

Dieffenbachia Variegated prefers medium to bright indirect light to maintain its patterned foliage. After shipping, place it in medium light and gradually increase brightness if needed. Direct sun can scorch the lighter areas, while very low light may cause the variegation to fade and growth to slow.

WATERING

Water when the top 2–3 inches of soil are dry. After shipping, it’s important not to overwater while the roots adjust. Dieffenbachia is sensitive to staying too wet during acclimation, which can lead to yellowing leaves or soft stems. Always allow excess water to drain fully.

HUMIDITY

This plant prefers moderate humidity (50–65%). While it adapts well to average household conditions, stable humidity helps prevent leaf edge browning after shipping. Extremely dry air may cause minor leaf curl or crisping.

TEMPERATURE

Ideal temperatures range from 65–85°F. Dieffenbachia Variegated prefers consistent warmth and does not tolerate cold drafts well. After shipping, keep it away from air conditioning vents, exterior doors, and cold windows, as temperature stress can cause leaf drop.

SOIL & POTTING

Use a well-draining indoor potting mix that retains some moisture without becoming soggy. A standard houseplant mix with added perlite works well. Ensure the pot has drainage holes. Do not repot immediately after arrival—wait at least 2–3 weeks to allow the plant to acclimate from shipping stress.

GROWTH & ACCLIMATION

After shipping, Dieffenbachia may experience some leaf adjustment or temporary drooping. This is normal. Avoid moving or repotting during the first few weeks. Once settled, it grows steadily and maintains its upright form.

COMMON ISSUES & TIPS

  • Yellowing leaves → excess moisture or poor drainage
  • Leaf drop → temperature stress or recent shipping
  • Fading variegation → light may be too low
  • Brown edges → inconsistent watering or dry air

Dieffenbachia Variegated is resilient once settled. With steady care and minimal disturbance after shipping, it acclimates well and continues healthy growth.
