LIGHT
Croton Rose prefers bright, indirect to bright filtered light to maintain its vibrant pink, red, and green coloration. After shipping, place it in bright light but avoid direct sun for the first 1–2 weeks. Too little light will cause colors to fade, while sudden direct sun can stress leaves during acclimation.
WATERING
Water when the top 1–2 inches of soil are dry. After shipping, allow the plant to dry slightly more between waterings while the roots adjust. Crotons dislike soggy soil, and overwatering during acclimation can lead to leaf drop. Always allow excess water to drain fully.
HUMIDITY
This plant prefers moderate to high humidity (55–70%). Stable humidity helps reduce leaf drop after shipping and supports healthy foliage. While Crotons tolerate average household humidity, dry air can cause leaf curl or crisp edges.
TEMPERATURE
Ideal temperatures range from 70–85°F. Croton Rose is sensitive to cold and temperature fluctuations. After shipping, keep it away from cold windows, air conditioning vents, and exterior doors. Temperature drops can trigger leaf drop, especially during acclimation.
SOIL & POTTING
Use a well-draining indoor potting mix that retains some moisture without staying wet. A standard houseplant mix with added perlite works well. Ensure the pot has drainage holes. Do not repot immediately after arrival—wait at least 2–3 weeks to allow the plant to adjust after shipping.
GROWTH & ACCLIMATION
Leaf drop after shipping is common for Crotons and does not mean the plant is failing. Give it time and avoid moving it frequently during the first few weeks. Once acclimated to stable light and temperature, new growth will emerge and color will improve.
COMMON ISSUES & TIPS
- Leaf drop → common after shipping, temperature changes, or low light
- Fading color → light may be too low
- Crispy edges → low humidity or inconsistent watering
- Yellowing leaves → excess moisture
Croton Rose benefits from patience and stability after shipping. With consistent light, warmth, and care, it will rebound and maintain its bold coloration.
