LIGHT
Bright indirect or filtered outdoor light is ideal, as strong sun burns white variegation quickly. Indoors, bright sunrooms or grow lights with space work best. Low light reduces growth and leaf size. Filtered morning or late afternoon sun may be tolerated.
WATERING
Keep soil consistently moist but not waterlogged, as bananas dislike full dry-out. Overwatering causes root rot and sudden leaf collapse, while underwatering produces rapid wilt. After shipping, reduce watering slightly until the plant acclimates. Avoid letting water sit in saucers.
HUMIDITY
Prefers high humidity (60–80%) for crisp leaves and healthy unfurling. Dry air browns white sections and tears leaves during expansion. Outdoors in humid climates performs best. Avoid extremely dry indoor heating conditions.
TEMPERATURE
Ideal temperature is 70–90°F. Very cold sensitive below 55°F and will suffer damage quickly. Avoid outdoor exposure during cool nights or winter. Allow 24–48 hours post-shipping before major care changes.
SOIL & POTTING
Use rich, well-draining soil with compost, bark, and perlite to maintain airflow. Larger containers encourage faster growth. Avoid heavy clay soils. Repot when roots fill the pot or growth slows.
GROWTH & ACCLIMATION
Fast grower under heat and humidity, slower indoors. Leaves naturally tear over time—this is normal and not a health issue. Do not remove partially damaged leaves immediately as they still contribute energy. Acclimation takes 1–3 weeks.
COMMON ISSUES & TIPS
White crisping → normal aging or sunburn
Yellowing → excess water or poor drainage
Drooping → cold shock or underwatering
Tipping → dry air or fertilizer imbalance
