LIGHT

Bright shade to moderate indirect light maintains leaf color and velvet texture. Direct sun burns sensitive leaves quickly. North or filtered east windows are suitable indoors. Low light results in leggy growth and dull color.

WATERING

Keep soil lightly moist but never soggy. Avoid full dry-out, which causes wilt and edge damage. Overwatering causes stem rot and leaf melt. Do not water directly onto leaves to prevent spotting. After shipping, reduce watering slightly for 1–2 weeks.

HUMIDITY

Prefers 60–80% humidity for best foliage condition. Dry indoor air causes crisping and edge curl. Humidifiers, grouped plants, or pebble trays improve humidity, but avoid sealed environments without airflow.

TEMPERATURE

Ideal range is 65–80°F. Below 60°F causes leaf drop and slows metabolism. Avoid drafts and sudden temperature swings.

SOIL & POTTING

Use light, airy soil such as African violet mix amended with perlite. Avoid heavy soils that hold water. Repot only when rootbound. Terracotta dries faster and is useful in humid climates.

GROWTH & ACCLIMATION

Slow to moderate growth depending on humidity and warmth. Acclimates within 1–3 weeks after shipping. Sensitive to environmental changes—avoid major adjustments during acclimation.

COMMON ISSUES & TIPS

Crisping edges → low humidity

Leaf melt → overwatering

Leaf drop → cold or drafts

Spotting → water on leaves
